Trump Plans to Pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley
Former President Donald Trump has declared his intention to pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of the reality TV show Chrisley Knows Best. The Chrisley family became popular for their extravagant lifestyle, showcased on their USA Network show.
Currently, Todd and Julie Chrisley are serving prison sentences after being convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud. Trump revealed this news during a phone call with their daughter, Savannah Chrisley. He said, “It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean.” The call was shared on X by Margo Martin, one of Trump’s top communications advisors.
Trump added, “I hope we can do it by tomorrow. I don’t know them, but give them my regards.” He continued, “I hear they’re terrific people. This should not have happened.”
Why the Chrisleys Went to Prison
The Chrisleys rose to fame through their show, which highlighted their family dynamic and luxurious lifestyle. In 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Northern Georgia for attempting to secure around $36 million in loans through fraudulent means. They were also accused of trying to defraud the IRS.
A federal judge sentenced Todd Chrisley to 12 years and Julie Chrisley to 7 years in prison.
Their daughter Savannah Chrisley has consistently supported her parents, claiming their innocence. She told People Magazine in February, “I’m going through the proper channels. I’m going to bring as much awareness to it as possible because these things should not happen.” Savannah also met with White House officials and spoke at the Republican National Convention. Recently, she appeared on My View, a Fox News program hosted by Lara Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law.
Since returning to politics, Donald Trump has granted multiple pardons, many involving white-collar crimes. Now, the Chrisleys pardon might be added to the list.
